Class 4
Class 4 |
Class 4 is taught by Miss Harris and our teaching assistant, Mrs. Milsom.
In Class 4, we study the topics: Fantastic Beasts; Splash and Staying Alive. In English we follow the Talk for Writing approach. We focus on further developing creative writing and explore authorial intent. Our maths work follows a mastery approach with an emphasis on securing key mathematical number facts including those for the multiplication tables. We continue to encourage independence. Children are expected to come to school every day with their reading book and reading record, a water bottle and raincoat. Please support us by reading with your child regularly.
This year, children will have one statutory test. This is the ‘Multiplication Tables Check’ (MTC). In June, pupils in Year 4 will sit the online test. They will be given 25 times table questions (multiplication only) with 6 seconds to answer each one. The tables are a random assortment of questions from all times tables up to 12x12. Great ways to learn times tables are chanting- whole tables or specific facts, games – quick fire questioning, or written practice. More information will be provided throughout the year but some useful websites are listed here:
https://urbrainy.com/mtc (This is very similar to the structure and layout of the official government test)
https://www.ttrockstars.com/ (This is a fun way to practise- earn points and spend them to accessorize your rock star)

In the event of being required to complete remote learning, Class 4 pupils, should follow the remote learning timetable for the relevant week. Teachers will use Seesaw to communicate with your child about their learning and suggest suitable tasks, activities and links to supplement those outlined in the remote learning plan. Most tasks can be completed online or through the use of pencil and paper. For tasks where you may require a printer, but are unable to access one or you have problems getting online, feel free to ask us for further support by contacting the office. Remember to make sure you include time for looking after your health and wellbeing. Stay safe.
