EY Pupil Premium
Early Years Pupil Premium |
Information for Parents
Early years providers that offer the early years education funding can claim the Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) for eligible children to support your child’s development, learning and care. This means up to an extra £302 a year for each child taking up the full 570 hours. Therefore it is important that you complete the registration form so that a check can be made to see if you are eligible.
Is my child eligible?
Children may be eligible if you have an income under £16,190 and are in receipt of one or more of the following benefits:
- Income Support
- Income-based Job Seekers Allowance
- Universal Credit
- Income-related Employment Support Allowance
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (provided you are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
OR
- The child has been in local authority care for 1 day or more in England or Wales
- The child has been adopted from care in England or Wales
- The child has left care through a special guardianship order or a child arrangement order in England or Wales
What do I need to do?
If you think you are eligible because of your income and benefits (or you are not sure whether you may be eligible but would like a check to be made) you need to complete a registration form that gives your permission for eligibility to be checked and return it to nursery.
If you think you are eligible because your child has been adopted from care or is subject to a special guardianship order or a child’s arrangements you will need to complete a registration form and also provide a copy of the relevant order (do not send in original documents) to your early years provider who will send them to Herefordshire Council.
If you do not think you will be eligible there is no need to complete the registration form. This does not affect your entitlement to 570 hours free early education.
Signing the registration form gives your consent for Herefordshire Council to check whether you are eligible for the Early Years Pupil Premium so your early years provider can receive funding for your child. You only need to complete one Registration Form. Each provider your child attends will receive the funding.
What happens next?
Your early years provider will add your National Insurance (NI) or National Asylum Support Service (NASS) number onto a secure Herefordshire Council database; they will not keep your NI or NASS number. The database enables Herefordshire Council to check your NI number with Department for Work and Pensions data. Once the check has been made your early years provider(s) will be notified if your child is eligible and they will let you know. The Early Years Pupil Premium is calculated each term based on the hours of Early Years Education Funding claimed and paid to the early years provider(s).
