Class 1

Class 1

Welcome to Class 1. Class 1 is taught by Miss Scott and our teaching assistant is Mrs Milsom. We are so excited to be teaching your children and know we are going to have a wonderful, successful year together.

Our topics through the year are 'Near and Far', 'Life's Light' and 'Grub's up'. This term, along with Reception Class, Class 1 will be performing a production of the Nativity at Christmas; the children would love it if you could join us in celebrating this special time of year!

We will be reading daily in school in guided reading sessions, but to assist with your child's overall progress, please read with your child at home as much as possible (preferably daily). Reading with your child helps to support them in their progression across all areas of learning.

Year 1 pupils will take the Phonics screening test in June. We use the 'Little Wandle' approach to help us develop our phonics skills. There will be a lot of support with weekly sounds/words uploaded to Seesaw. Weekly spellings will be uploaded to Seesaw along with a paper copy being sent home every Monday. Please try to practise these as much as possible with your child.

The children need to wear their PE kits to school on a Wednesday and Friday.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any worries or questions!
We look forward to the year ahead.
