40th anniversary of our school
Mon 06 May 2024Celebrating 40 years of Enriching Education
St Thomas Cantilupe Church of England Primary School is commemorating four decades of commitment to children and families in Hereford city.
The celebration promises to be a joyous occassion, bringing together previous staff and families, current children and families as well as the wider community.
Since its founding in 1984, St Thomas Cantilupe has enabled countless children to flourish and has shone brightly in the city. From its beginnings (where three schools became one) the school has remained true to its foundation in the Diocese of Hereford.
The anniversary celebrations will take place on Friday 14 June at the school. There will be two sessions where visitors are welcome: from 9.30-11.00 a.m. or from 1.30-3.00 p.m.
All previous families and staff are cordially invited to join us as we celebrate 40 years of our school.
For more information and to RSVP please contact the school on 01432 268400 or email admin@st-thomascantilupe.hereford.sch.uk

Super scientists
Tue 30 Apr 2024Classes One and Two spent time with our visitors from 'Cultivating Learning and Nature CIC,' a social enterprise whose ethos is to promote positive mental health through ecology, horticulture and crafts. Together, children learnt about habitats, identified insects and had a super day exploring our extensive grounds.

Teamwork
Fri 15 Mar 2024The last two days have shown what an excellent community we have around us at STC. At our parent meetings over 90% of families were able to attend. Feedback was excellent, with many positives and ideas about how we can work together.
We also developed an innovative approach to working with our local health care providers, social prescribers and school nurse who all attended both evenings. Parents were able to gain access to information, be signposted to different services and get the support that they wanted. Feedback from the team was excellent, 'thank you and your team for making us so welcome and give us the opportunity to support the families at your school.' We look forward to working together next term and in the future.

Our fantastic city
Sun 25 Feb 2024Children in Class 5 and 6 were lucky enough to work alongside students from the outstanding Hereford College of Art. Taking part in a Ferrous Workshop, children learnt to manipulate metal, use precise tools and develop their creativity. Children made these stunning votive plaques. These will be on display during the Ferrous Festival Weekend.

Once upon a Tune
Fri 19 Jan 2024At the start of the Spring term, each class read a story from the wonderful book, by James Mayhew, called, 'Once upon a Tune.' This inspirational collection of stories took children to imaginary worlds through exploring the stories behind major orchestral works.
The quality of discussion, beautiful work and creative art that the children produced were testament to the power of a story.

A special Christmas
Tue 19 Dec 2023Christmas time at St Thomas Cantillupe is one that we treasure. Lights shine, there is excitement in the air and the sound of carols fills our school.
This year was really special as we took part in the first ever DHMAT Advent Carol service, held at Hereford Cathedral.

Reading wonders
Fri 29 Sep 2023We give reading the highest priority at STC. Children's attainment in reading is well above national (by every measure) and the progress that they make is exceptionally good. This happens beacuse of the time that we give to reading, our superb library, carefully chosen books, reading buddies, first class community support and the partnership betweeen school and families.
This year we began with a reading week which included sharing lots of wonderful books, meetings with families about reading, introducing some new community reading friends and sharing with our friends.

Spirited Arts
