Reading

Learning to read is the most important aspect of learning in a child's primary curriculum. We place importance on it through having high expectations for all children, investing in reading in terms of time, training and books as well as sharing a love of reading with each child. The information below explains how we teach reading and is followed by the different points that we expect children to reach over time. Support for parents in helping your child to read is found within the 'Parents' tab on this website.

These are the endpoints that we expect children to reach over time at primary school. Children are given additional support, where needed, in order to meet them. We want every child to be a fluent, confident reader who loves books, by the time they leave us in Year 6.
